Choosing the Right Vinyl
Not all vinyl is equal. Pick the wrong type and your decal cracks on a curve or falls off in a month. Here's the short version of what we'd tell you at the counter.
The three vinyl families
- Monomeric (calendered): the economy film. Fine for flat, indoor, short-term use (promo stickers, point-of-sale). Shrinks a little and doesn't like curves.
- Polymeric (calendered): mid-tier. Good for flat-to-slightly-curved outdoor use up to ~5–7 years. Most of our general signage.
- Cast: the premium, thin film that conforms to complex curves (vehicle wraps, helmets) and lasts 7–10 years. More expensive, worth it for wraps.
Adhesive: permanent vs removable
- Permanent: high-tack, basically forever. Use for outdoor signage and vehicle decals.
- Removable / low-tack: lifts cleanly (window promos, rented units). Don't expect it to survive a Gauteng summer outdoors.

Lamination extends life
A clear laminate layer roughly doubles outdoor life and adds scratch/UV resistance. For anything facing the sun, laminate it.
